Background/Career/Family Life:
Grew up in Albany in a small house right behind St. Peter’s Hospital and attended Albany High School. Attended Clarkson College of Technology, yes I’m old, in the fall of 1981 and pledged the Lambda Phi Epsilon Chapter of Tau Epsilon Phi in the Spring of ’82. I lived for 2.5 years in the House in the Frying Pan starting as a 2nd Semester Sophomore and served as the House Scribe.
After Graduating in May of 1985 I immediately I started working at Picatinny Arsenal in NJ as a Mechanical Engineer where I remain to this day as a Senior Technical Lead for our Small Arms Munitions Production Branch.
I married my wife Doreen in 1990 and together we have 4 daughters (Aged 28, 25, 21, and 21). We have lived for the past 28 years in Sparta NJ and are vey active in our community.
I like to Golf, collect Comic Books, play Zelda, and am very active in our local Elks Lodge. As an Elk I am serving as the current Exalter Ruler (President for a 2nd time) of Sparta Elks, have chaired many committees, and also serve at the District Level as the Veterans Committee Secretary and the Lodge Activities Chair.
Alumni Involvement:
I was elected to the Board in 2017 and am currently serving as the Parliamentarian. I am currently chairing the effort to revise our By-Laws. Revising the By-Laws has been a fun challenge and has been much needed due to just how dated they are. I have worked as a member of the Re-Union committee he past two years. In addition, in my first year as a trustee, I authored a two-page flyer intended for distribution to parents that highlighted the benefits of being in a Fraternity. I attend all Board meetings with the exception of a few, have attended re-union weekend two of the past three years and it would have been three out of four had this year not been postponed, and want to continue to support our chapter.
Why Would I Like to Continue on the Board
Over the past three years I have enjoyed my time on the Board and feel like I have been a valuable asset. I would like to be able to see through to the end the adoption of the By-Laws and to see what works, what may not, and what needs to be amended. Being an empty-nester, I have time to give and would like to continue to give back to an organization that has given me more than it knows.
I would also like to continue on the Board as I strongly believe in the Fraternity/Sorority system as my two youngest daughters (twins) can attest. They have thrived being in Sororities at UMaine and Indiana University of Pa. For one daughter it bought her out of her shell. For the other it allowed her to reach outside her box after a very traumatic experience as a Freshman. Both are very active in their chapters and were very surprised when they realized that not only did they have my blessing to join but strongly encouraged them to do so.
